Mechanical Engineering
Among the most diverse of the engineering fields, mechanical engineering affects all aspects of our lives. Mechanical engineers are concerned with design, manufacture and operation of a wide range of components, devices, or systems:
  • biomedical applications
  • automotive industry
  • laser technology
  • microscopic systems and nanotechnology
  • more efficient heating, ventilation, refrigeration
  • computer-aided design, automation, robotics
  • predictive maintenance and reliability technology

Mechanical engineers have been involved in improvements to and technological advances in engines, power plants, satellites, automobiles, airplanes, household appliances, machine tools, prosthetic devices, surgical equipment, and heating and refrigeration systems, among other things.
